The New Founders’ Plaza

My family and I went to pay a visit to the Founders’ Plaza on Wednesday November 26. This the first time since the old Founders’ closed and was moved from the southeast side of DFW Airport. I was surprised to say that I was very impressed.

It is now located at the Northwest corner of DFW up near the UPS cargo hub. You can see the massive aircraft that UPS has sitting on their ramp (tarmac as the press calls it). The aircraft you see that is pointed away from the camera is an MD-11F and the one turned pointed to the right of the picture is an OLD Boeing 747-100.

Founders’ is not to hard to find. They placed the new rotating beacon dead center. They made it look good so it is not an eyesore like you would think it would be.

The first plane that we were greeted with was this little Super ATR-72. I did not even notice till afterwards that this was the yellow ribbon plane. American Airlines and American Eagle Airlines now have have select planes that honor the US Military troops.

I like to see the American brand sporting special paint, whether it is for the US Military or Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure

Next is an American Airlines MD-83 on short final to runway 18R.

If you are in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, you should visit Founders’ Plaza. It is a great place to take your kids if you have any.
